  6. The 800K Disk Drive is a highly reliable component of Macintosh products and
  7. continues to exceed Apple's reliability goals.  We continually strive to
  8. improve the reliability of Apple products.  We have discovered that moving the
  9. drive head to Track 79 during ejection can enhance the 800K Disk Drive's
  10. reliability.  Therefore, Apple has developed the Apple 800K Eject INIT Version
  11. 1.0 that positions the drive head at Track 79 when disks eject.

  13. Macintosh users who are using Version 4.1 or greater of the Macintosh System
  14. file may take advantage of this enhancement.  Updating can occur one of two
  15. ways:

  17. 1)  The Apple 800K Eject INIT Version 1.0 is available on AppleLink:

  19.     *  Open the Software Updates icon on AppleLink
  20.     *  Locate the Apple 800K Eject INIT folder
  21.     *  Download the INIT file
  22.     *  Place the INIT file in the System Folder
  23.     *  Restart the system
  24.  
  25. 2)  Since Apple has incorporated the Apple 800K Eject INIT Version 1.0 into
  26.     Macintosh System Software 6.0.4, users who update their system software
  27.     to 6.0.4 will receive the enhancement.  Future releases of the Macintosh
  28.     System Software will also incorporate this INIT as a patch to the System
  29.     file.
